Making an application
When you are making an application make sure that you do the following:
- Send us an up-to-date CV or application form, as applicable
- If a CV is required, tailor your CV to the position you're applying for
- If you are submitting a CV, also include a covering letter, showing why you're the best person for the job, without just repeating your CV
- Submit your application as soon as possible even if no closing date is given, as positions will close as soon as a suitable applicant is found
- Submit your application via the Expotel careers website where possible. If you have problems submitting your application via the website, email your application to recruitment@expotel.com and let us know that you are having problems with the careers website
The interview and testing process
We will let you know within 4 weeks if you have been invited for interview. Due to the large volume of applications we receive we are unable to contact unsuccessful applicants.
You will be asked to take part in a competency based interview. This means that we will be asking you for specific examples of things you have done in your career/education history in order to demonstrate some key skills that we are looking for. It may help you if you prepare some examples in advance, for example, times when you were able to help a customer, be very organised, work as a team etc.
You will also be asked to sit some psychometric ability tests under strict conditions. These provide some objectivity to our recruitment process – please do not worry about them. They are multiple choice and will be tailored to the skills needed for the role you are applying for.
There is very little you can do to prepare for these tests, however if you’re doing a verbal test, practising reading newspaper articles and getting someone to test you on the content; or if you’re doing a numerical test, ensuring you know how to do percentages etc, may help you.
You may also be asked to take part in a recruitment activity or presentation, depending on the position.
Feedback
Whether or not you are successful at interview / tests we will let you know within a week or two or as soon as possible. All candidates are encouraged to ask for feedback on their interview and test performance to help in their development. A member of the HR department will give feedback on testing and interviews.
